My love of the floors in one of the the Windsor Smith kitchens I posted yesterday has me a little perplexed. I am usually not a huge fan of marble floors. But hers, mixed with Bateig Blue Limestone…..I love!

I am picturing floors like these. White cabinets and a grey island. Color (some pink for sure) brought in via the textiles. My mind is starting to bubble with ideas….
I wonder how durable this would be for a kitchen. Anyone with experience in this area? I’d love to hear it!

Marble in a kitchen is durable. Our kitchen floor is marble (was here when we moved in and I decided to not change it)…the only draw back I’ve seen is that it’s hard on your back if you stand in the kitchen a lot…oh, it can be very cold to stand on in the winter!

February 8th, 2011 at 9:51 amI have carrara and absolute black granite in my entry and guest bath. If you don’t mind it not being perfect you can deal with it. The problem is it will etch with any acidity and in a kitchen that is very likely to happen. I want it on my counters but have been reluctant because of that. If you are a perfectionist about things it might not be a good product but if you like the patina that can happen over time you might be able to handle. Juice is its enemy though, Kathysue
