Do you remember the “Before” exterior shot of our house?
Well, here is what it looked like over the weekend.
Since this photo, the roof over the porch has been replaced with a metal roof. I forgot to bring my camera when I was over at the house yesterday. The last thing we need to do before we move in next week is have the front door painted. We’ve sortof gone back and forth. We want high gloss….and feel we need contrast to the shutters…..since we are doing the gloss. Well, we decided to take a risk and go…..yellow. Look at the front door of a local Dallas Antiques store….which I took with my iPhone out the window of my car with traffic barreling down upon me!
The color is Benjamin Moore’s “Yellow Rain Coat.” Our front door is set back and I think this color is going to give us a nice (and maybe unexpected….pop). And after all, it is just paint, right? Here are some more yellow door images.
Are you feeling this?
Think I am crazy?
Would love to hear your thoughts.

February 22nd, 2012 at 9:33 amHi Maddie,
February 22nd, 2012 at 1:14 pmI think the yellow door is a great idea.I love the yellow in the picture above #206 versus the #120. It’s just a pretty clear yellow. Love. So I think you just want to continue to find the right hue.
i was all smiles when i realized you were really serious- you will only answer your door to broad smiles–and the color reflects the playroom so its all connected
February 22nd, 2012 at 8:12 pmand your children will get that too, like they’re included and very much a part of this beautiful home. just wondering, what happened to maddie’s beaded chandy—loved it.sz
A yellow door would look insanely good. It has to be a bright yellow and you must have a brass kick plate. I think it would look even better if the shutter of the house were black.
February 22nd, 2012 at 9:55 pmi love the bright yellow on house number 120 especially since your front door is shaded under the over hang. Can’t wait to see it finished.
February 22nd, 2012 at 10:05 pmI love love love yellow doors. I only wish I could get away with it at my house.

February 23rd, 2012 at 5:33 pmFABULOUS IDEA!!!! I love the idea of your yellow door…and have ALWAYS loved Nick Brock’s door!!!!! Good for you!!! Home, sweet HOME!!!
February 23rd, 2012 at 10:16 pmFirst, your house looks awesome! Beautiful job! Second, I’ve always loved Nick Brock’s yellow door so GO FOR IT! We’re going to also give our front door and shutters a fresh paint job so I’ve been searching for a good color for the door. I’d love to be risky but my husband won’t let me and he usually doesn’t care what I do
– so do your front door for me!
Also…love the paper in Maddie’s room! And…I think it’s terrible how dangerous it is that cops will get you in the middle of the street. One nearly caused a wreck on the tollway just to get somebody a few years ago. It shook me up so badly I really wanted to call it in. They have been out in full force lately, I noticed. I’m sorry that happened to you!
