It’s slightly too hard and shiny looking for my taste–a bit cold. I prefer more texture and patina (so I love the ceiling!). I also love the stove hood. If this were mine, I would either switch out the floor or the island; but it is hard to see the color of the floor because of the shine. If it is a honey-colored wood, it would likely warm everything up and add some balance. Or keep the floor and add a natural wood, warmly-stained island which would tie it into the ceiling. Add some white stools to echo the white tile, and voila!
geez its miss cranky again, love your kitchen,Susie, this one has a haunted look and kind of a churchy feel. the range hood and candles almost evoke an alter feel. sorry.i do like the two windows. the island is surgical steel (i am a nurse) and i run from anything that looks clinical. i looked 4-5 times and where is the color? Susie, this space is depressing, I don’t think this reflects your happy, cheerful fresh style. what
attracts you to it, i am curious.sz
Hi Suzie.
Actually, I had to download then enlarge to really get a feel on what the materials were. I think it’s just a bad photo with the surfaces reflecting too much. While the space is a bit more on the modern side than I would go for, I do love key items: the brick ceiling. yummy. The timbers and the wood floors as well as that range hood which is TOTALLY awesome and the back splash (looks like a fireplace heat reflector). It’s a cool space if you’re wanting to balance modern and rustic.
