Last week, our barstools and chairs arrived back from being repaired.  I love them both.  Here are some photos of our kitchen today.  (I received free photo classes with my camera over a year ago…..I think it is about time for me to sign up for those classes.  Oh well…)

I spent a good deal of Sunday outside applying Scotch Guard to the upholstery.  I didn’t use COM (customer’s own material) on the host/hostess chairs or the barstools or else I would have had the fabric done professionally before it was sent to the upholsterer.

Oh yes, and here is a quick snap shot of the view out towards the family room. Still lots to do here.  The curtains are supposed to be installed in the next week.  I wish I had thought to close the TV cabinet…..but honestly, this is what it looks like everyday…..

There isn’t a ton more to do in the kitchen other than some accessorizing and one wall that could use some art.  We are still waiting on the chandelier for over the table, that is due to ship out at the end of the month.

Also, the chair cushions will be recovered as soon as the fabric arrives in.  I think I caused some confusion last week as I got lots of emails and comments asking why I had changed my fabric for these chairs.  I actually am still using the same Galbraith & Paul fabric that has been in my plan all along.  (Last week I was just browsing the new G&P offerings while waiting to order the one I’d selected!)  I am also doing a contrasting flange from Pindler (my go to resource for linen and basics at relatively affordable price points).

And more important than the look of the kitchen is how much better it functions.  Rather than always wanting to go out to eat, we actually want to spend time at home preparing a meal.  On Saturday I had the luxury of spending the afternoon doing some leisurely cooking.  When we remodeled we added a sink and dishwasher to our island.  I love that I can work on the island and look out over the kids playing in the family room.  It feels so great to be finally living in this space that I fretted over for so long!
