While we are on the topic of my kitchen, I think I’ve made some progress on the kitchen chair front. Recall, below is my loose inspiration for dining which will be in the space between the kitchen island and the entrance to the family room. On one side of the table is a fireplace and on the other will be the new entrance to our butler’s pantry pass through.
Inspiration….
Below is the table I have ordered. It is due in in January which works fine because we won’t be back in the house until late January. I got a great deal on this table too which was an added bonus since I fell in love with it before finding out the price. I love that it has 5 leaves in it!
I had previously posted some bamboo chinese chippendale-esque chairs that I really liked AND were priced well. But, for something like this…I really wanted to sit in them before making a decision. So, I headed over to the Dallas Market Center on Friday and poked around. Here are a couple of images (excuse the iPhone quality—I also had a bag of catalogs and a diet coke in my hand) of the chair. This one was sitting at a salesperson’s desk so I shot it quickly before he came back!
Here is the chair in another finish (neither of these shows the finish I’ll do which will be custom and is still TBD).
I was glad that these were well-constructed and comfortable in person. Cannot beat the price that comes along with my first want for this space. (And by the way, these chairs that I thought about for all of 5 minutes…..one would have cost nearly what all of the above babies will end up costing. Made the whole decision a lot easier!)
Now, while I was down at the Market Center I also found these chairs as a strong contender for the end chairs. Very comfortable and I like how compact they are. They are also at a decent price point which is always a bonus.
One of the reasons I really love the idea of using upholstered end chairs (in addition to just liking the look) is that we won’t have room to have permanent seating around the fireplace in the kitchen….but I envision that these could be shifted around if we wanted to have coffee or a nightcap in front of the kitchen fireplace (may never happen but at least the option is there). These are still TBD based on my measuring and doing the floorplan to make sure they all work….but so far, I think I am sold.
What do you think?
