Today I had to go to the design center for some customer projects. Of course, while I was there, I had to browse and wouldn’t you know….I think I have figured out Harry’s room.
I have really been stalling on this room….I really get crippled in my own home because I am exposed to so much and I hate to commit. But, Erica over at Stark called me this week and the rug for Harry’s room that was on backorder until July….well, it’s here and is being cut and bound….and will ship in just over a week. Yikes!
This was the push I needed to proceed with the design and I finally admitted to myself that I am not loving my yellow and grey theme. First, love the combo….but maybe not for my home or at least this room. And 2nd, I guess by using the bird wallpaper on the ceiling I sortof felt like I was copying….and I want our room to be ours! Which brings me to this….
Today, while waiting for some samples to be pulled I started browsing the Osborne and Little wallpaper. This paper (shown above) just spoke to me. It is Nina Campbell from the Paradiso collection (Folco). It has the perfect blend of blue/grey and an almost shimmery silver/grey trellis pattern. I love it. (Point out to my husband that there are “flowers” on this paper and I will never speak to you again!)
I immediately called the contractor and said I am ready to do the wainscoting and assuming my husband doesn’t take issue….this is the paper. I am going to use it on the upper 1/4 of the room above the wainscoting (board and batten). I am going to do the ceiling a pale blue/grey paint or if I feel crazy, maybe I’ll paper it.
Romans will be out of the linen above, which has silvery sheen to it. It’s perfect. I just need to find some blue/grey trim for the shades and I will be on my way. This all makes me a happy girl!
Happy Weekend!
Update– Huband came home and immediately detected the flowers and expressed dislike. Sigh, do you think the paper is too girly for a baby boy? I am prepared to change it before he starts school! Really, I am!

Sorry I agree with hubby I saw the flower motif immediately, I think it is the color combination that you are loving and I so agree with you on the beauty of the color but the pattern just misses, sorry, but you asked and I told you I will always be honest with you.Love the rug and the blind fabric and I love the silvery blue.

April 8th, 2011 at 8:30 pmCan I please veto your husband?
I actually really like it. I think it’s fun when you see something that you would never expect in a boys room but mixed with other elements, it just works!

April 9th, 2011 at 11:24 amI don’t think it is girly at all, especially when you combine that rug with it.
April 9th, 2011 at 5:40 pmI like the wallpaper and didn’t see that the design was flowers. But…..you don’t want to have to replace it the minute one of his little friends teases him about having flowers on the wall. Do they make other patterns in the same colorway?
