FAQ
Return Policy
What is your return policy?
Please review our Terms and Conditions of Sale. Specifically, please note the “All Sales are Final” and “Returns and Cancellations” sections of these terms.
Sales Tax
Will I be charged sales tax?
Generally, only purchases in the state of Virginia will be charged sales tax (5%). However, there are some vendors who will collect sales tax if the item is being shipped to a state where they have operations. Sales taxes will be included on your quote, so it is important to provide us with your shipping address when you make your initial inquiry.
Shipping
Please explain why some items cannot be shipped directly to my home.
While smaller items–say a lamp or a cut of fabric, etc.–may be shipped directly to your home, larger items are often shipped via commercial shipping avenues. This means your couch is traveling across the country on a large freight carrier. The carriers require a commercial loading dock to unload your order. Hence, your order must be shipped directly to a commercial receiver. This receiver will unpack your goods, inspect for any damage that may have occurred in transit, and handle any repairs and/or returns should damage have occurred. The receiver will deliver the item to your home for an additional fee.
May I pick my item up from the commercial receiver in order to save delivery costs?
Usually a commercial receiver will allow you to pick up your goods. A receiving fee will be charged by the company and your items will be available for pick up. However, we recommend a professional delivery where your item will brought into your home, set up and placed to your specifications.
Will all shipping costs be known at the time of order?
In many cases actual freight is not known at the time of order. In those cases, we will work off an estimate and will bill, or credit, balance when final payment is due.
My goods arrived damaged, what do I do?
If you do find damages to a product (including items that may be drop shipped), please keep original packing materials until claim is satisfied.
While we do our utmost to ensure your items arrive in perfect condition, there are some things that are beyond our control. We would like to claim that damages do not occur during transit, but unfortunately that is not always the case. Our freight carriers handle your pieces with great care but it is important to understand that from time to time damages do occur. If your piece arrives damaged, the freight company reserves the right to have the piece repaired and brought back to the manufacturer’s standards at their expense. They do this by sending the piece to a furniture medic or back to the manufacturer for a repair/rebuild. If the freight carrier determines the piece cannot be repaired, you have the right to be reimbursed for your purchase or have another piece rushed at no additional charge and shipped out to you as soon as possible.
In cases where a commercial receiver is used, MGD will ensure that the receiver inspects the products and handles any freight claims prior to delivery. Should you notice damage upon delivery, please notify the delivery crew before they leave your home.
