My love of the bamboo / chinese chippendale chair is not undocumented. A search for a metal version of this chair led me to Design Workshop Incorporated based out of North Carolina.
This is where the interest started…..
And then they sent me their catalog….and wow, I love so many of their products.
For a covered porch, perhaps?
Tucked in a little nook, or at a writing desk?
And, they do more than seating. How about extra storage in a kitchen tight on cabinet space?
A rustic file cabinet….on wheels no less!
A stylish option for the kids’ activity room?
Or how about an industrial chic coffee or side table…that could even fold up to be pulled out when additional tabletop space is needed?
Wow, I could post their entire catalog here. They do dining tables, with options for straight, ball & claw or parsons legs. They have a ton of finish options and innovative designs. They offer industrial lighting designs, stools, decorative steel baskets, etc. And, what I like almost as much as their designs is that their prices are not over the top at all. In fact, they seem quite affordable.
I am wondering if anyone has ever purchased from this company (looks like they were recently at the NY Gift Show) or seen their products in person? I cannot wait to try them out in my new home…..just where to start? The bamboo chair and ottoman are really tempting! And even my husband enjoyed the catalog when he saw it on my desk…..a definite plus!

September 8th, 2010 at 8:50 amHi Maddie – I love your blog! The Design Workshop holds quarterly “warehouse” sales in Warsaw, NC. I’ve been fortunate to attend many of them right before I moved into my new house. I have the bamboo chairs (both with and without arms), claw foot console, and have bought a number of accessories at the sale. The prices are astounding and quality can’t be beat. Let me know if you want some more info. I am in desparate need of some fabric for chairs and curtains and unfortunately to not have access to the fabrics I desire (trade only). I see that you offer great fabric for sale sometimes. I hope to be able to buy some before they are all sold out!
