That Floor...

The January / February issue of Veranda features the Dallas home of designer Kelli Ford. The house is over the top and I could easily blog about many of the rooms featured. But what really caught my eye were the floors. Check out the Missoni inspired bathroom floor….

Pretty spectacular, huh? And finally, in another home designed by this amazing duo (sisters Kirsten Fitzgibbons and Kelli Ford)…I am in love with the high gloss black floors.

Last weekend I spotted this image over at Isabella and Max.

Besides the sheer beauty of the architecture here, I was immediately drawn to the carpet which is Stark’s “Logo” a Hicks design. I’ve used the same carpet / colorway in Harry’s nursery. I adore this carpet. After seeing this image I had to go to his website hoping to find some more images of this space. Lucky for me, I did and wasn’t disappointed. Below is a view from the top of the stairs. Look at all of the light…such a unique spot.

My kids would go crazy over that retro chair. Although, somehow I am guessing not a ton of kids live in this space? Perhaps my favorite image from this home are the shots of the kitchen. I am dying to know what the countertop materials is (perhaps quartzite?). Everything is just perfection to me. And I am really glad we have already ordered our own backsplash tile or this might have caused me to re-think my decision yet again. (I seriously thought our builder was going to lose it with my indecision in this area.)

Over the last year I have slowly come around to lavender hues…..this room….yes, I could more than be happy with it. The Moroccan rug, the overscale art….the delicious window treatments. What isn’t to love?

And while my husband could hang out here….

I would be more than happy to catch up on blogs and design magazines from this little spot.

With Maddie in preschool 4 mornings a week and Harry ever more active at almost 11 months, I now understand who the silly old Calgon ads were aimed at. Calgon may not be my thing, but I’ll take a bubble bath with my favorite L’Occitane fragrance, some relaxing music and a refreshing beverage any day. Of course, how could you not relax in this setting?

Upholstered Headboard....

I fell in love with this Lilly Pulitzer by Lee Jofa fabric and knew I wanted to see it used in Maddie’s room.

The initial plan was to do drapes….but I need 25 yards and really this is just too much to spend in a three year old’s bedroom. So, I’ve decided to go to plan B and use it on an upholstered headboard where I need more like 5 yards. I went to my upholsterer last week armed with sketches and dimensions. He’s going to do a mock up for me and assuming all goes well she will finally have a big girl bed ready when we move back in after the remodel.

Late last year I posted the photo below, loving the blue and green mix and loving those drapery panels (still wish I knew what fabric they used).

Then last weekend while ~~wasting time~~ researching on pinterest I ran across this image. Yep, it’s got to be the same room, right?

Of course, this made me want to see more…..so some more searching lead me to this next image (yes, I know I claim to be so busy…..but this is oddly how I often zone out and relax…) Definitely the same bones with a more eclectic vibe. Love it too.

Despite the fact that these floors are now off the table for the remodel (both for budget and logistical reasons), these images remain the inspiration for my kitchen seating.

Many of the chairs like this that are available retail are offered in a limited selection of colors (black, white or cream). But, I may want to liven mine up so I have been searching for manufacturers who will do a custom finish vs. having to buy chairs and then have them sprayed after the fact. I’ve found a few at varying price-points.

First, these are sold in pairs and the price is fairly reasonable. This chair is actually a hand carved wood chair. The pair sells for less than $1,000 even with a custom finish. The cushions are down filled burlap.These may be the winners for me given the price. I need armless as well and like the lines.

This next version is quite a bit more. But, it is a beauty don’t you think? Again, they will do custom and pricing depends on if you want the frame only or want the cushions (and what type of fill).

This last chair can also come in a custom finish. It costs considerably more than the above two options and has more of a fretwork pattern. It is probably too much for us (especially since we don’t need arms….which would be custom) but I do love this manufacturer and this piece reminds me why.

I have also started my search for the right wing chairs for the table ends. Last night we entertained 7 adults and 6 kids for dinner. It always amazes me how everyone ends up in the kitchen standing up all night. It just reiterates to me how important kitchen seating really is! Are you the same, do you always end up in the kitchen while entertaining?

Romo Wallpaper Love....

I was over at the design center earlier this week looking at wallpaper. This pattern (Seraphine) from Romo caught my eye. It is from the Rubani Collection and is going to be a strong contender for my new powder room. It is available in eight colorways. See them all here.

You may recall my powder room inspiration image from here. I think the above colorway with the light beige on the woodwork (including the frame around our round window) would be perfection. The powder room is in a hallway off the dining room and we brought the below chandelier with us (photo of our old home).

And I am not 100% sure yet, but I am thinking about using the below curtains from the old house in the dining room this time around. I have plenty of yardage to have them remade to fit the new space.

I love Clarence House’s flowering Quince wallpaper, but I’ve been searching for a softer color palate to suite my own taste. I think I have found it here.

Funny enough, the same day I saw this paper at the design center, I spotted it over on Viera’s blog. Maybe it is meant to be!
