Buffalo Check....

A classic motif that seems to be “trendy” again, I really love a good large scale check….

Pehaps that is what initially drew me to this chair (from GLP Designs) that I want for our family room.

What about you?

Are you a fan?

Office Love....

I have spent so much time focusing on decorating my home of late that my poor office, which is in our backhouse, has suffered.  Right now it is part office, part storage and part exercise room…..  I stumbled on this image and it instantly made me happy.  The only thing I might change is wood floor for carpet….minor detail, right?

Does it get any better than this?

Perfection.....

Wow, it is finally Friday and the end of the week couldn’t come fast enough.  While dealing with the regular hustle and bustle of the holiday season we are actually facing critical decisions points over at the house as well.  Painters start trim paint tomorrow upstairs and we finally settled on a color tonight.  (My “go to” trim color has too much yellow for the greys in this house…)  In the last week, I finally settled on the backsplash for the kitchen, we’ve been working on the design of the mantle for the kitchen, worked on sourcing the iron for our stairway, lighting, etc. etc.  Today I am having all of the windows measured so we can get the window treatments started….cannot wait to share all of my selections….just need to sit down and do it!

In any case, this living room has recently entered my living room inspiration file.  I’ve got a cranberry colored silk couch that will go in the living room and found a fabric with cranberry and a brown tufts that I want to use on the french doors in the room.  So pinks (never called that when the husband is around) and greys are very much on my mind.

This space speaks to me this week because it is simple, uncluttered….feels calm.  I love the  balance between the subtle masculine touches added to this rather feminine palate.  I could sit here with a glass of wine and unwind after the kids were in bed.  I love the restrained use of gold in the room….and the coffee table, love it!

What do you think?

San Francisco Beauty....

A pinterest photo lead me on a little clicking spree that landed me on the real estate listing (via HB Home Bunch) for the home of Alison Pincus (co-founder of One Kings Lane).  Below are photos from the Sotheby’s listing.  It can be yours if you have nearly $9 million to spend….or you can join me and dream….

Check out this foyer….I am not sure what to think…..it is definitly striking.  I do love that dog statue!

I am absolutely in love with the kitchen.  Never in a million years would I have had the guts (or probably even thought) to do the yellow backsplash…..but I love it.  It has to be so perfect for foggy San Fransicso mornings!

I am always a fan of the Hicks Pendants from Visual Comfort.  I also love the barstools and the classic breakfast room chairs.  Let’s face it, there isn’t much I don’t love about this space.

Next is the dining room.  I love the chairs from Design Workshop, Inc.  In fact, I’ve blogged about them in the past.

Love the white coral chandelier as well.  I am not sure where this one is from but Currey and Company has something very similar.  Horchow / Neiman Marcus also has a similar one from Janice Minor.

The upstairs landing is one of my favorite spaces.  So light and airy.  I love the paint colors, the dark wood floors and the simple window treatments.  And there is another dog….love it.

I love this child’s room.  The yellow stripes on the walls, black beds and geometric carpet…..really love it.

The master bedroom and bath are pretty nice as well.  I think I could relax here!

There are a few more photos in the real estate listing so hop over and check them out if you are curious.  Had you seen this house yet, do you have a favorite spot?

Pretty Paisley....

Never in a million years would I have thought to put this paper on the ceiling….

But, I love it.  What about you?

Chair Love- Richard Mulligan.....

Sorry I have been so absent of late.  I have just been swamped with work and end of summer stuff.  My mom was in town and we bought Maddie’s uniforms last week….I cannot believe my baby starts preschool on Monday…..booo hooo.  We had a little play-date today with a friend who will be in the same class.  It was too cute to “spy” on them as they played.  Really, is there anything better than observing a three year old’s active imagination at play?

Anyways, sitting here waiting to hear back from the AC person as our upstairs unit has gone out.  It is slightly laughable to even think  we have a prayer of getting someone out today….given Dallas has had like over forty 100+ degree days this summer.  It rained the other night and I got so excited I had to wake my husband up…..it was like how I used to act when I was a kid and it snowed.  Wish us luck in the heat…thank goodness for the downstairs unit still humming along and the backhouse (my office) which is working just fine!  Anyways, I digress.

I had my chairs all figured out for our new eat in kitchen.  And then I saw these in Architectural Digest over the weekend……

I think they would go great with my new kitchen.  Below is the table I am getting close to buying.  Took husband to take a look over the weekend and got his vote of approval.  I love that it has 5 leaves—just so perfect for impromptu entertaining in the kitchen.

We are doing white cabinetry on the perimeter of the kitchen (with a possible VERY faint striae effect) and grey on the island.  I was planning to do all of the counter tops in marble.  Until I found the limestone seen below.  I am thinking of using it along the perimeter to contrast with the white cabinetry.  I just love it (and yes, I know all of the cautionary tales about limestone counter tops).

Don’t you love it when your vision starts to come together? Of course, I haven’t priced these guys out yet….I may be back to my bamboo chairs by tomorrow!  Hope you are doing well and enjoying these last precious days of summer.
