Hump Day – Happiness….

Here we are, half way through the last week of summer for us.  My husband caught me tearing up in a Kindergarten orientation at the school last night.  Cannot believe my baby is headed off to Kindergarten on Monday!

When I saw it this morning…

the cute image above made me smile.

Bright and Cheerful, what’s not to like?

And now I am coveting that Jon Robshaw pillow.

Happy Hump Day!

Geode Love….

The geode popularity is nothing new…..but honestly, I have been so busy and focused on the big stuff at home that I am in desperate need of some accessorizing.  I just got roped in to hosting an event in our home in October (why am I unable to say no?) and it is the kick I need to get the downstairs as close to done as possible.

Office Color Inspiration…..

Last week I got a little nudge in getting my office decorated, by way of finding the perfect fabric for window treatments.  Here is a little swatch I shared on Instagram…..although the colorway I am going to use is a green/chartreuse on a neutral ground.  The repeat is around 25″ both ways….and I love it.  (I am sorry in advance I don’t know who manufactures this as I found it at a one-off shop and it doesn’t say on the selvege….if I find out, I’ll be sure to let you know!)  Why I didn’t take a photo of the actual colorway is beyond me…..

Office Fabric Inspiration

My plan all along has been to be pretty neutral in the main office space so I can do photo shoots for products / look-books and change things up periodically.  The plan is to put in hardwoods, do some light remodeling to the kitchen area (new countertops, a skirt across the lower cabinets and removing upper cabinets for open shelving.)

I don’t decorate with green much and my home is painted in a very light grey….so I want this space to be a bit more natural/organic feeling.  I think the main colors besides neutral linens will be green and blue.  Here is some color inspiration I’ve accumulated.

Finding the jumping off fabric has been the push I need to get moving on this space.  Stay tuned.

Perfect Hideaway…..

The kids and I took a little jaunt to Virginia to visit with family and friends this past week.  I love getting into vacation mode when away and having the opportunity to delve into a good book (after the flight to Australia this summer my kids are PROS at flying so I can actually read on planes again)…..which I never seem to be able to do when at home.

I very randomly stumbled across the image above and instantly had the desire to curl up in this attic room with a book.  I think this spot would be perfect for a nice vacation snooze….sun streeming in ……bright colors and an envelope of pattern and texture.

The room makes me instantly feel happy and cozy.

The crazy mix of pattern works when perhaps it shouldn’t.

What do you think?

Bunk Room….

Since we have been in Australia we have spent the lionshare of our time at the beach.  We’ve rented a house and while it has 5 bedrooms…..we have been bursting at the seams at various points (my husband has 4 brothers and we’ve been lucky to be able to catch up with everyone).

It has made me think that if we ever buy a second home here or in the US a bunk room will be high on my list of must haves.  Here is some inspiration.

Wanting an Hermes Tray….

For some reason, I got it in my head the other day that I want to do a large oval Hermes tray on our over-sized coffee table.  Something to hold remotes and non breakables as this table gets lots of abuse attention.

I haven’t tried hard, but a quick search of the usual suspects (1stDibs, Ebay, etc.) didn’t yield much.  There is an etsy seller who makes a good looking reproduction.  But, I kinda want the real deal.

Seen any lately?

Audubon Prints….

I am working on art for our guestroom and am loving the vintage vibe of using Audubon prints.  Here is some inspiration for the vibe I am going for.  Hoping for a natural, collected, vintage sortof vibe.

While they have been popular for a while, I am finding myself drawn to the look of over-dyed rugs.  I am slightly obsessed with finding a yellow one for my foyer……but it is harder than one might think.
Do you like the look?

Style Me Pretty….

With most of the major design decisions done around here, I am slowly but surely working on art and accessories.  If we get some good light over the weekend I’ll share a few new additions, my new living room art is being picked up from the artist today and I’ve had a professional arrange orchids in my big clam shell for the foyer.  Plus, the new pair of lamps for our family room sofa table came in….

What I am lacking is the knick knacks and accessories that make the house feel “done.”  Here are some inspiration images.
