Yesterday, I received an email that Thibaut is running a special until the end of the year (which I am, of course, passing on to my customers).  So, I decided to hop over to their site and just browse around a tad.  And low and behold, look what I found….I really, really like it.

I still am in total love with the Brunschwig fabric in the top image.  But it is CRAZY expensive (like retails at over $350 a yard) and I have to pick my crazy splurges carefully.  While Thibaut fabrics aren’t bargains, they are generally pretty reasonable as far as “trade only” fabrics go and they have such great products (and often have coordinating wallpapers).  One other thing I love about Thibaut is that they offer room views to accompany many of their fabrics and wallpapers.  I don’t know about you, but it really helps me envision things better when I have something more than a small swatch to view.

Anyhow, I think I am going to pop over to the design center to pick up a sample later this week.  We shall see.

Currently, I have a client who was hoping to use this paper in her daughter’s nursery.  Unfortunately, it has now been discontinued and there is no stock available.  Finding out that the paper had been discontinued was a real disappointment.  So, she asked that I keep my eyes out for an alternative.

Last week I picked up a copy of “fresh Home” magazine and was drawn to this image from the weekend home of John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon.

I think the paper they used (Thibaut’s Coco from the Chelsea Collection - available in 6 colorways) is a great alternative.

Anyways, the trip only served to accomplish two things. 

First, we realized there is no way we are going to convince Maddie that she should forgo her “cot” (husband is an Australian and this is what they call cribs) for her new little brother.  In fact, she was running around the store with glee…..letting us know exactly which “cots” she wanted for “Baby H”.  They were all decked in pink, of course!  With the transitions of a big move and a new baby on the horizon….there is no way I am going to displace her….even though I know that she’ll be ready for her “big girl” bed probably the day the little one is ready to move from a bassinet to a crib.  Oh well, such is life.

Second, we learned there are so many options for cribs….and are now only more confused.  I am in the cheap and “disposable” camp (with good safety ratings, of course) as this will likely be our last.  As such, I am leaning towards more modern styles as I do not particularly care if they are dated in a few years.  Of course, my husband gravitated to the big solid wood “investment” pieces.  We’ll figure it out soon I hope.  In the grand scheme of things…I am not overly stressed about this.

In the meantime, I took only a cursory glance at crib bedding as I’ve got a few ideas floating around in my head–and I plan to have ours made by my workroom.

Anyways, here was one of the sets that caught my eye.  Specifically, it was the greek key motif in grey that caught my attention.  After all, you know I am currently on a grey and yellow kick.

At first, I was sure that this was  Thibaut’s Malay Ikat fabric that I had blogged about here.  I loved it then, and still love it.   But, upon closer inspection….I realized this fabric was not the same.

After a bit more searching I think I’ve found the source.  It appears to be Duralee’s “Abstract” in Graphite.  This fabric is also available in Indigo and Cocoa.  I can source it for under $25/yard.  Not too bad….

Incidentally, here are the Noir chairs used in a room by Webb Designs (aka, Joni from Cote de Texas).  Don’t you love the addition of the slips?  I should add that most of the chairs featured here are available in both arm and side chair versions.

I also like the versions available from Artistic Frame, as they are available in a myriad of different finishes.  And, the chair can easily be modified into a barstool or an office chair, the cushion can be customized, etc.

And, of course, you can find these chairs in the design catalogs, such as Ballard Designs and William Sonoma Home.  Jonathan Adler also has a nice option in multiple colors.  Finally, it is always worth looking on Craigslist, eBay, etsy and 1stDibs.com for a vintage set.

Then today, while on the Thibaut website researching for a client, I came across the Malay Ikat Fabric.  And, while certainly not the same fabric as above….it gave me the same feeling.  Yes, I get excited about fabric…..are you really surprised?

In addition to the Malay Ikat on the chairs, the wallpaper and curtain fabric are also Thibaut (Kirkwood, Aqua and Brown on Cream).  Both are part of the Shangri-Li collection.    I am just loving this….can see the fabric used in any number of relaxed spaces throughout the house!

It comes in 6 colorways.
