Do you remember what the “before” of our foyer looked like?

Periodic remodels in the circa 1920′s home’s history resulted in a choppy and circuitous layout. Lack of light and flow really were the main reasons we started down the path towards remodeling. Here is the foyer today….I cannot even begin to tell you how happy we are with the end result. (It was SO worth this…..)
As you can see, we re-oriented the stairway to create a center hall plan. We also moved the entrance to our living room (on the right) by widening it and centering it on the room. Night and day, right?

I love it! The yellow front door makes me smile and I’ve always loved being able to see all the way through a house. You’re going to enjoy it so much we you move back in.

February 28th, 2012 at 7:29 amWow, that is a huge modification. That must have cost a fortune to change all that around. It does look great though!
February 28th, 2012 at 7:57 amI thought of you this morning as I was perusing the current issue of Southern Living, they have a good article on exterior paint colors and door colors as well as fixtures, hardware and landscaping. The way it is designed now makes so much sense and it is beautiful. Here’s wishing you many happy and blessed years in your lovely home. Looking forward to seeing all of the progress.
February 28th, 2012 at 10:34 amEverything looks just wonderful. The selections for Maddie’s room are just fantastic — can’t remember if I commented on that post but I just love the colors. I have also developed a LOVE of the yellow door. Wow! I clicked through the post to see all the yellow door options on the Holly Mathis site too. Great color. Hope you’re enjoying it all!!
February 28th, 2012 at 11:00 ami have become addicted to your site and am so very happy i found it—i am so over all the instantaneous makeovers—your sharing of the processes and the mental work involved in making such a transition is priceless. it has always been evident you are creating a home and not a showcase with attitude. it is classy, beautiful ,warm and inviting. can’t wait to see more as you continue–it is such an inspiration. sz
