For those of you in the North, I hate to admit that we had a weekend of 70+ degree temps. Neighbors met up for impromptu wine, conversation and a play-date for the kids on Friday evening. The parks were packed and everyone was outside on Saturday and Sunday. It really put me in the mood for Spring!
Speaking of warmer weather. This new “Silhouette” print collection for Groundworks / Lee Jofa beckons cheerful and warmer days! Love this yellow print! It makes me happy!

Look at all of these great prints from the new collection. My mind is swirling with the possibilities!

Do you see anything in there that interests you?
One of the hazards of my gig here at Maddie G Designs is that I am exposed to a lot of fabrics, furniture and wallpapers. Earlier this week I received an email from a previous customer asking if I knew the source of the Mary McDonald-esque flame stitch wallpaper. So, I did some research on how she used this pattern in her work. This is her dressing room, can you imagine?

Here is the same paper, different colorway, designed by McDonald and featured in Domino…

Of course, the email was not asking for photos of the paper, but rather the source. Well, in this case ask and you shall receive. The paper is from the Osborne & Little Vintage collection and the pattern is “Volte-Face.”

And it comes in four colorways…..sold in Euro rolls ( 11 yards per roll)…

What do you think, do you like it?
Would you dare use it?
Have a great weekend!
I am starting to feel like an advertisement for Serena and Lily….
It’s a good thing I am firmly committed to the design of Maddie’s bedroom or this room, especially the headboard, may have caused me to switch gears.

We are getting new windows in our home this week (don’t get me started on the nightmare this is and how it should have been completed before closing….) In any case, once the structural stuff is done I will start the decorating fun upstairs. I am going to try to post progress on Maddie and Harry’s bedrooms, as well as the upstairs playroom, soon. I am getting excited…and so is Maddie who walks around with the wallpaper and fabric samples for her room and shows them to anyone who walks in our front door. My own little budding decorator!
Surprise, Surprise…..I have a new fabric love…..Peter Fasano’s “Tanzania”

Who has not seen and fallen in love with the Hallings Secretary by Thomas O’Brien for Hickory Chair?

It even made it into Big and Carrie’s room in Sex and the City 2…..

The price isn’t for the faint of heart. But, for less than 1/2 the cost, what do you think of this number from Global Views? Not a reproduction by any means, but similar lines don’t you think?

I am liking the mirrored front and the orange interior.
On Monday I showed you the pitiful shape of the built ins in our family room.

Well, that was then and this is now.

I pretty much used whatever we had around the house. My husband scratched his head as I removed all of the covers from his extensive collection of World War II novels. My books, I am afraid are not of the bookshelf variety! I broke a couple of rules too, can you tell?

I’ve got fake peonies mixed in….and I know people feel strongly about this….but I love mine and I can sleep at night I assure you. I also ran out of appropriately sized books and had to throw in a few paperbacks. What are you going to do?
The only “new” items on the shelves are a few new moss balls I whipped up with supplies I had on hand from a previous project.

So, for now at least I feel like we can have friends over for dinner this weekend and not be completely mortified at the state of the shelves. Now on to the living room which has another set of built-ins backed with a not so hot (or professionally done) red paint job!
Oh and P.S. to my husband if you are reading…..this is why I really need that new camera for my birthday!
