One last holiday image....

I don’t decorate with green much but this image caught my eye last year.  I do not know where I found it (sorry) but I think it is via Coastal living.

I saved this image because I loved the drapery panels and the combination of blue (my favorite color) and green.  I also like that the room feels so light and airy.  This is something I appreciate even more as I think about decorating my new home which is very dark due to a front porch with an overhang and the upstairs hallway being completely internal (surrounded by the bedrooms).   And, to add insult to injury, all of the unpstairs windows have plantation shutters.  I am going to have to get creative to lighten up my darkish home!

And, on an unrelated note….as a thank you for hanging in with me lately (and for those of you poor souls who have had the “pleasure” of speaking with me on the phone with kids screaming, doorbell ringing, workmen asking questions, collosal amounts of phone tag, etc.) I’ll be offering up a great fabric giveaway tomorrow.  So, don’t forget to check back tomorrow!  I promise not to disappoint!

What do you think?  I think I spied it in Kate and Andy Spade’s bedroom…..

Love the Combination....

I am loving the combination of the large scale gingham and the floral wallpapers, both from Schumacher.

The room has an updated traditional feel to it.  Almost updated granny?  I am picturing this combination in a sophisticated nursery.  Perhaps with a nice dose of wainscoating 3/4 of the way up the wall?

Happy Holidays!

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful holiday weekend.  We are finally settled in Dallas and are enjoying special time with my parents and sister, who flew in from Virginia.  At the moment, there is the drone of football in the background and more than one person napping around here!

We did manage to make it to Santa the night before we headed to Dallas.  Someone was still not sure about Santa….hence Mommy’s presence in the photo!

We managed to get a tree up on the eve of Christmas Eve.  Incidentally, there are good deals to be had if you wait this long!  And, have managed to enjoy a little local color…..

Thanks for hanging in with me during all of my distractions over the last couple of months.  I look forward to getting back into the swing of things now that we are finally settling in and Maddie starts back to school the week after next!

Happy Holidays!

Overwhelmed!!!!!

Sorry for the silence here on the blog.  We have spent the last two weeks relocating to Dallas.

4 Days of packing and loading and four days of unloading and unpacking…..I was starting to think of our moving crew as honorary members of our family.

The kids (now 8 weeks and 2.5 years) were unsettled by the move and as a result we are all exhausted!

But, we are slowing settling into our new home.  There are something like 40+ kids on our block I am told?!?  Maddie is loving watching the horse drawn carriages that travel around the neighborhood allowing people to look at all of the holiday decor.  Our neighbors already had us for a lovely (and most appreciated) home cooked meal.  And finally, the house is slowly coming along.

I look forward to getting back to regular posting after the holiday.  Lots to share…..we’ve moved into a much smaller house and I have been having fun (?)  rearranging our furniture.  Harry’s room now has an armoire from our previous master bedroom and my old office rug.  Our master bedroom has our pink silk living room sofa.  The kitchen table is now a game table in the family room, etc.  We’ve had to get creative….

After less than a week in the house we are sure that the main level is in need of a remodel….so, I’ll likely start decorating upstairs first where all changes will most likely be cosmetic.  Stay tuned!
