Yes I think I've seen you before.....Ogden Mirror

Do you ever wonder about the sources behind your favorite design catalog items?  I am going to start a new periodic feature on my blog highlighting what I believe to be the sources behind some of the more popular design catalog products.  I’ll file them under the category “Yes, I think I’ve Seen You Before.”

So, to kick off this little series, I thought I would start with a favorite….the “Ogden Mirror” as seen in the Ballard Designs Catalog.  I’ve got this mirror (purchased from the wholesaler) hanging over a console table in my upstairs hallway.

And, here is the mirror featured on the Uttermost website.  Uttermost sells wholesale/to the trade only.  Feel free to contact us if you want to compare pricing….

Have a great source to share?  I’d love to hear it.

Thom Filicia Fabrics for Kravet

The new line of  Thom Filicia fabrics have hit the Kravet showrooms.  Here is a sneak peek as the images are not yet up in the Kravet fabric online search engine.  All images are via Kravet.

San Francisco Design Center, Kravet Showroom

Thom Filicia, well known for his Emmy winning work on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, has been named as one of House Beautiful’s Top 100 American Designers and House & Garden’s Top 50 “Tastemakers.”  He has also starred in and produced two Style Network Shows, Dress My Nest and Tacky House, where he focused on making home design accessible and achievable for the average homeowner.

I love the palate below, and especially cannot wait to see “Selina” in person.

Clockwise from top right: Crouse, Eureka, Selina, Shonnard

And, while I do not often use orange in my designs, I love these….and think the Citysquare print would look great as pillows on a navy couch!

Fabrics, left to right: Citysquare, Alvord, Poppyfield, Prospect

For a more neutral palate, the following would certainly fit the bill.

Fabrics: clockwise from top left: Niagra, Lodi, Eisner, Lodi

Fabrics, from left to right: Alvord, Basin, Alvord, Croly, Wall

Finally, how great is the fabric on the chairs in the NY D&D Building Kravet Showroom?

So, what do you think?  Do you like what you see?  I’ll let you know once I’ve seen these in person!

Maddie's New Bedroom Inspiration

I recently shared an early inspiration item for our eagerly awaited son’s nursery.  And, while our 2-year-old Maddie’s decor could last a while…..she’ll get a new room by default as we are moving cross country later this year.  The July/August 2010 Veranda Magazine featured a Bermuda home decorated by Phoebe Howard.  One room, in particular, caught my attention.  It is now the starting point for “Maddie’s New Room” inspiration file.

First off, Maddie is enamoured with butterflies.  I just love the custom wall painting with pink butterflies and dragonflies.    I am not usually a fan of “murals” in rooms as they often lean towards a bit over the top (especially in children’s rooms).  But, I think this design is subtle and perfect for a little girl.

I have not decided if I want to do twin beds or a queen for Maddie’s room.  In either case, I am loving this bed which is available in both options from Lee Industries.  (Fabric on the bed is from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams).  I think the natural fabric would grow with her as she will enevitably have her own ideas as to how her room should be decorated one day.

The textiles on the bed and the Sherrill furniture stools are all from John Robshaw Textiles.  The drapery and bed accent pillow fabrics are by Raoul Textiles.    And, I am loving that I can re-use the rug I am planning to buy for our living room for real estate staging purposes in Maddie’s room once we move.  I checked out new samples on Friday….and am leaning towards a wool synthetic that has the sisal look….for comfort reasons.  Still undecided on that…..but need to make up my mind soon!

I am absolutely loving the Oly Studio mirror (see closer shot below)….and love the bamboo frames on the prints.  So, at least I have a starting point in my mind….need to start searching for the perfect (for us) fabrics, etc.  And, anyone who may know of a good decorative painter in Dallas, please let me know!

Any thoughts on the room, pros and cons of single or queen beds, etc. I’d love to hear from you.  In the meantime, like what you see and need help with the sources?   Feel free to contact me.

Niermann Weeks Annecy Chair....

Words cannot properly express how much I love these chairs.  This photo from the Niermann Weeks website causes my heart to palpitate.  The fabric and finish on this set…..wow….I have no words.

I love my dining room chairs……but I would trade them in a heartbeat for a set of these…..if only my budget were unlimited.  In any case, I scoured the internet for some more images of these beauties and even emailed with the folks over at Niermann Weeks and I’ve got a few more images to share.

The below set resides in the Niermann’s own dining room.  Can you imagine what your home would look like if you owned a company like Niermann Weeks?  No, I am not jealous at all!

The next image is from Veranda, and I apologize I cannot locate the issue/photographer.  If you know, please let me know so I can update the credits.  Unfortunately, you can only catch a glimpse of the table and chairs here….but I really like how they have mixed the Annecy chair with upholstered ones.

The next two images come from Traditional Home Magazine.  The March 2009 article featured the home of Eleanor “Elle” Roper.  I love the settee version just as much as I love the chair!

And what about this one, can you catch a glimpse of this chair in the bedroom below?

Speaking of glimpses, can you spot the tops of these chairs in the cover shot of the March 2010 Traditional Home Magazine?

Finally, this shot of the Annecy Settee was used in an advertisement for JLM Couture Occasions.  According to Eleanor Niermann, the NY showroom has actually rented out the settee several times for photo shoots and wedding events.  Who knew?

So, what do you think?  Do you share my love for the Annecy Chair and Settee?  Perhaps one day I’ll have my own!  If you have any questions about these items, or any Niermann Weeks piece, please feel free to contact me.

Pierre Frey New Chinoiserie Offering....

For all of you chinoiserie lovers, here is a little eye candy from Pierre Frey.

Pierre Frey- Macao Bleu De Chine (also available in a red colorway)

This fabric doesn’t come cheap….trust me.  But, a little could go a long way….don’t you think?

A Peek into Jay Jeffers' San Francisco Home....

The week before last I read on katiedid that Jay Jeffers’ San Francisco home is now on the market.  I have long admired his work and even copied one of his designs for my own home.  Below is the Mark Nelson “Stump Rug” he designed for the 2009 Modern by Design Showhouse.

Here is the same rug in his home.  Image via Southeby’s.

When researching for a blog post on a powder room that Jeffers had designed, I emailed his firm to request more information on the products used.  I often do this and never hear back from the designer, but was surprised to hear back from Mr. Jeffers himself.  Of course, I had to tell him I’d been inspired by his rug.  His response was unexpected and thoughtful…he appears to be as nice as he is insanely talented.

In any case, to see more of his incredible home, hop on over to Southeby’s.
